About Leslie Byrne
ARTISTS STATEMENT
Art is like beauty, its value is in the eye of the beholder. Whether your two year old created a masterpiece worthy of the refrigerator, your retired Mom gifts you her creations from her first art class or John Lennon's doodles languish in little poetry books - it's your call. The value of any art is up to you - the observer. the lover, the purchaser, the colleague - you the general public.
ARTISTS BIO
My expressionistic or post-impressionistic original oils, acrylics, and mixed media on stretched canvas, board or ACEO are on many walls throughout the world.
My works are studies of homes and streets in Glover Park, the DC neighborhood my Mother and I loved. Atlantic seaboard images like the Delaware WWII Gun Towers and the stunning Historic home of Milton, Delaware are my recent favorite subjects. The 'Lewes Lighthouse 1926' is an expressionistic interpretation of the last days of the lighthouse prior to the ocean finally taking it and the adjoining house. My Rehoboth series has morphed into a Sussex County collection, 'La La Land', 'Firetowers' and 'Watershed' are done! The recent Milton Art Guild in June 2017 was themed: "Water" - I attended but was unable to submit on time - dang it! Hate it when that happens ...the show was a hit as everything in Milton is. Look at their upcoming shows ! The 8x8 show was brilliant - so many fabulous little canvases to choose from. Next is "Reflections" for November 2017.
ARTISTS INTEREST
I started training as an artist in Venice Beach, CA under the tutelage of Tom O'Mara, a fellow colorist. Tom and I recently enjoyed "The Bill Maher Show" !!! in Los Angeles. So my practice continued on an extended RV tour of the USA, when I produced a solid group of Van Gogh like images of moonlit lakes and heat drenched muddy rivers. Then my cats in doorways and windows started taking center stage. 20 years since my start, I love painting the cityscapes and structures. Dont miss out on the new prints/glicees available of all my work on this website and many others linkable through Google.
